Ouch!

Ouch. Not really.

I had my allergy tests today. Much to my surprise, it really wasn't so bad. My tattoos hurt more than the needles today.

It has been determined that I'm allergic to dust mites. Has anyone ever seen what these little buggers (no pun intended) look like? I Googled them. Oh...they are GROSS! Even scarier...they're related to ticks. *shivers*

The literature given to the newly diagnosed is a howl. Apparently, you're supposed to wrap your sheets and pillows in saran wrap. You are also told to change your pillow cases every day. Who has the time? By the time I hit the bed...the last thing on my mind is changing anything. And forget the morning. This is me. I'm lucky I can dress myself and make it to work on time.

Of further interest...no draperies, no carpeting and no upholstered furniture. Ummmm...no upholstered furniture? Am I to levitate? Or...should I buy those resin chairs on sale at Home Depot for a quarter?

They also recommend removing stuffed animals. For those of you who know me...that's just not an option. Not because I collect all sorts of cute creatures (ok...I have a few) but a small, brown bear lives in my house. His name is Bob and he is my travelling companion. I cannot imagine trolling battlefields in Europe without Bob near by. He has a fondness for tanks and I have a fondness of taking pictures of Bob and tanks. Or mortar shells. Whatever.

Hmmm...I'm not sure I have a point to any of this rambling. Other than...the furniture stays, Bob stays, the carpeting can go once I have enough money to lay proper hardwood flooring and I'm going to be pricked once a week.

Oh...and I get to eat my beloved muscle relaxers again. Mmmm. Beer and muscle relaxers. My favorite dinner. *falls off to sleep*

I sympathize, being a multiple, year-round allergy sufferer myself. I can tell you that getting rid of the carpet was the best thing I ever did. As for the rest, bah! (Between my own stuffed animals and my kids' collection of hundreds, there are probably more dust mites in my house than in the entire state!)

I take allegra and use rhinocort (steroid nasal spray) and things are under pretty good control. Surgery to fix my deviated septum before Christmas worked wonders too.

PS Cool blog...may start one of my own one of these days. :-)

You should most certainly start a blog. I bet it would be a hoot. Really.

If a luddite like myself can do it...anyone can. ;)

I have been on Zyrtec, Azmacort and Singulair. It has worked really well for me. I can't imagine how I'll feel once I start the shots.

The concept of dust mites is just creepy. Oh...now I'm itchy, too. :)

You should post that picture of Bob with the tank in Belgium. Of course, he might get a little full of himself if he knew his picture was on the internet.

The shots aren't so bad, really. I did them for years. If you can handle a tattoo, I think you can handle weekly shots. I'm too much of a wuss for tattoos myself. :-)

Hey, whatever happened to Windbag? I think you and Melanie scared her off! That was quite the exchange the other night, LOL!

OK, off to check out blog info...

M_a_S...

Tattoos aren't really painful. I'm more irritated by the itching when they are healing. I think you should get one. All of the cool kids are doing it, you know. Mwwwwwahahahahaha. ;)

I have no idea what happened to Windbag. I have been missing her lately. It's fun to deprive people of sleep. :)

Dock...

Bob will be up here soon enough. No need to worry, only Brun knows how to work the laptop and he won't tell Bob.
