Tag! You're it!

Continuing the game of book tag started by Mia and passed on by Emory, it's time for me to play.
  1. Grab the nearest book.
  2. Open the book to page 23.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
  5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
  6. Tag five people.

America (the Book) - A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction by Jon Stewart and company

Everybody knows Betsy Ross was the one who "got it all sewed up" in the theme song for that show, Maude. But what you may not have known is that the thing she "sewed up" was the American Flag! I'm talking about Old Glory!

And when I don't know anything about all this then how can I honest-to-God say I think of anything at such times? When I'm wondering what's the best way to get a window open or how to force a door, how can I be thinking or have anything on my mind? That's what the four-eyes white-smocked bloke with the notebook couldn't understand when he asked me questions for days and days after I got to Borstal; and I couldn't explain it to him then like I'm writing it down now; and even if I'd been able to maybe he still wouldn't have caught on because I don't know whether I can understand it myself even at this moment, though I'm doing my best you can bet.

Ok...I am going to admit that I'm so tragically unhip I have never heard of Alan Stilltoe.

*hangs head in shame and feels so suburban*

Kathryn...you need to bring me back to the land of the cool on our next smoke break. Please. I'm feeling very old.

Mr Base...

You are now free to go outside and play among the other ankle-nippers on the play ground. Or you can go to the magic mound of Helsingborg dog pooh and count the bags.

Krammies!

I am going to blatantly disobey the directions and post it here instead of in my blog. (Btw, I updated my abortion links recently, though I think you have seen the ones I added already.)

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

On Mr. Norris's death the presentation became the right of a Dr. Grant, who came consequently to reside at Mansfield; and on proving to be a hearty man of forty-five, seemed likely to disappoint Mr. Bertram's calculations. But "no, he was a short-necked, apoplectic sort of fellow, and, plied well with good things, would soon pop off."

He had a wife about fifteen years his junior, but no children; and they entered the neighbourhood with the usual fair report of being very respectable, agreeable people.

I have to admit, Jane Austen is a bit wordy so I cut and pasted the text from an online copy. I used the copy I have for the sentence and page numbers though.

I got two book at same distance (arm length), one is a manual for the preparation of Dissertation and the other is a dry Wastewater Engineering book. As the 23rd page of the manual has just a big figure on it, so I got to take it from the other wastewater book. so;

Wastewater Engineering, Treatment and Reuse by Metcalf and Eddy

Over the last 30 years, the principal focus in wastewater engineering has been on improving the quality of treated effluent through the construction of secondary and advanced wastewater treatment plants. With improved treatment methods, higher levels of treatment must be provided not only for conventional wastewater constituents but also for the removal of specific compounds such as nutrients and heavy metals. A byproduct of these efforts has been the increased generation of solids and biosolids per person served by municipal wastewater system.

Cyber...

Thank you for playing along. And making me feel very pedestrian with respect to bookage.

From now on...I'm keeping something a skosh more profound within arm's reach. Not to slam Jon Stewart but everyone else is making me feel stoopid.
