Unappreciated things...
One quick note before I slither off to bed.
When creating Kodos-Centcom, I was adamant about having some sort of device to play tunes. I didn't want a ghetto style boom box. I didn't want a mini rack, either. I wanted something solid, with a decent sound and a remote control that would not chew up precious space. I opted for this little Panasonic number that not only plays cds, but the radio (for when I need to punish myself with Top 40).
The set-up worked quite well until we moved. My outlets are sparse in the new den and I keep forgetting (yes...even after two years) to ask Dock to bring me one of those outlet modifiers, octopus things. So, my slick cd has served as a landing-strip for dust and little else.
This weekend, I decided to forgo the the schmoos as bright light has been bothering my feverish eyeballs. I plugged in the neglected stereo, popped in the new Dixie Chicks cd, closed my eyes and relaxed.
Unbeknownst to me, I have missed music in Kodos Centcom. It is much better than background noise from the TV.
It's nice to be pleasantly surprised. It's nice to make your safe haven even comfier. It's nice to know that one does not need to stray farther from a den to find comfort in numerous ways, as well.
Perhaps tomorrow, I shall nose about the house to see what other misfit toys I have been neglecting. Sometimes, all it takes is making a simple change to make life much more blissful. Right now, I'm grateful for my fever and the floaters in my eyes, for not having them would not have reminded me about the forgotten cd player. I would certainly not be basking in the joy which is gracing my world as I type otherwise.
Note: That is not an invitation for the fever to hang around. I'm done with that nonsense.
