Summer. Egad.
Aaaah...summer. The heat has settled upon us. The humidity is suffocating. The air is still and quiet. Sounds of crickets and peepers are all that one hears. Nibbling of mosquitoes can be felt on every exposed part of my body.
Summer brings about a major shift in my musical tastes, as well. Gone are the ambient sounds of The Cardigans. Gone are the bubble-gummy pop songs which cheer me up in the winter. Incoming...alt-country, country and rock. Slow music to accompany the slow pace of The South in the scorching, July sun.
Currently spinning at work:
Son Volt - Trace
The Jayhawks - Tomorrow the Green Grass
Golden Smog - Weird Tales
Dixie Chicks - Taking the Long Way
Zapruder Point - It's Always the Quiet Ones
I'm not sure why my tastes very so much from season to season. I think there is something very complimentary about a slide guitar and atmospheric stillness though. It reminds me of sitting under the tree in my back yard on Sunrise Avenue, next to Dock...both of us with noses buried books.

I hope he's burning in hell. The Conkers-Kang Church of Absolution turns deaf ears to Sociopaths.
